Fishing to Learn a New Language

Help me give my students the resources that will help them learn a new language! Most of my students come to this country not knowing any English, these supplies will help give them a better opportunity to learn.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I work at a school where we receive several students that come to this country not knowing any English. I help give them the tools and resources to learn letters, sounds, words, and phrases in English. There is a large language barrier between these students and other teachers/peers within the school.

What I love about the students I work with is their tenacity, and willingness to work hard regardless of the language barrier.

My Project

Using these materials and resources my students will be able to connect the Spanish that they already know with the words of the English translation. Having materials that show them the connection of the two languages will help them to learn faster and allow them to succeed better academically.

Many of the resources that I chose show basic English vocab represented by a picture and spelling, with the Spanish translation.

Once these students build up their English vocabulary, it will help to communicate better with other teachers and peers. This will help not only to succeed academically but for the rest of their life as well.
