My Project

My students have leaned into my passion of natural sciences, including our assortment of plants and most excitingly, our classroom fish tank and realized the endless benefits of owning an aquarium.

The fish tanks provide students with an outlet when they are feeling upset, anxious or frustrated as they can take a few minutes to watch the fish and calm down in a healthy way.

The water sounds are relaxing to us all, and students rotate the classroom aquarist job when they feed the fish, monitor their health, and help clean the tank. It is a source of pride and students know they are required to be very responsible before they can be trusted to hold the position. The fish tank is a big source of classroom engagement and motivation to all of the students.
