Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a special education teacher working in a first grade ICT classroom. As a teacher in a low-income district, my students face many challenges both in and out of the classroom. Despite all of these challenges, my students walk into school each morning eager and ready to learn. I'm looking to provide my students with meaningful and authentic learning experiences so that they are able to grow in all aspects of their lives.
My students are funny, creative, and love to move!
They thrive from being able to create and explore with hands-on materials. They want learn first grade "things" and are motivated to succeed just as much as I want them to!
In an ICT setting, we push for our students to thrive both academically and socially. We place a strong emphasis on building social skills, using kind words, having a caring heart, and working as a team! We are full of acceptance and learning to incorporate and appreciate each other's differences.
My Project
We're out of glue and dry erase markers! Our erasers have even vanished...
My first graders LOVE learning - it's evident through the use of almost all of our classroom supplies!
I have requested supplies for my students that they have run out of in ADDITION to new resources to support their learning.
Magnetiles to support STEM, counting bears and magnetic letter tiles to support their learning through hands on experiences, seat cushions for flexible seating, and basic organizational items (table caddies).
I am hopeful that these resources will help all of my students to engage in learning in a positive way.
