This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My school is made up of students grades K-5. I have 25 students that come from very diverse demographic backgrounds and family situations. Some of my students have experienced homelessness, foster placement, and transient home situations. School is a consistent and safe place for my students to come to daily.
My enthusiastic students, need to have the ability to be immersed in literacy-based activities through the use of technology.
My classroom also consists of children that are english language learners. The use of a document camera could help bridge the learning gap that is already evident in their language skills.
My Project
The Document Camera, being requested, will be used to prepare my students for the technological world that we live in today. The document camera will help the visual learners in my classroom during our Literacy centers, math lessons, research, reading comprehension passages, phonemic awareness, and literacy skills.
All children have the right to learn in their preferred way.
The students become excited when given the opportunity to use technology and that encourages a love of learning. In using this type of technology, the children that have difficulty learning in a traditional way tend to soar when given an opportunity at alternative learning. All children in my classroom should be able to have daily access to the latest supportive literacy-based learning.
