Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are the first ever yearbook staff at a brand new high school. They are all grade levels, but a majority 11th and 12th grade staff. They are passionate and eager to create a publication that sets the tone for the school as it moves through its first year of existence.
Since this is the first year for our high school and Journalism program, my students are bringing new and diverse ideas and experiences to our brand new yearbook program.
My Project
This year our district has opened a brand new high school to meet the needs of our growing community. With the expenses of opening a new school, the Yearbook program unfortunately is starting from scratch with an empty bank account. We are lacking the resources necessary to create a quality yearbook.
My Yearbook students are requesting resources to help them make the first yearbook in their schools history.
As a program, we are in need of a camera and a color printer that will allow as to adequately review book pages before they are submitted. Currently students are using their cell phones to take photos for yearbook.
My students are passionate about this years yearbook and are excited to create the first one in the schools history. These resources will help ensure that we produce a quality yearbook that is worth the hard earned money students will be spending to purchase the book.
