My Students

I am teaching 4th grade in a small town (population of less than 2,500 people) in Northern Iowa. About half of the students at the school are part of the free lunch program. My class is a group of hardworking kids who deserve to be able to make some choices throughout the school day.

Who wants to be told they have to sit at an uncomfortable desk all day long while they work?

My students want (and deserve!) the freedom to be able to choose where to sit and be able to be comfortable while reading and working on classwork.

My Project

As a first year teacher, I am excited to get into my own classroom and be able to express my love for learning with my students. I want my classroom to be comfortable and engaging to help foster my hope to teach students to love school and learning as much as I do.

To help my classroom be as inviting and comfortable as possible, I want to be able to offer my students flexible seating choices during reading and work time.

By being more comfortable and being able to choose where they want to sit rather than being stuck at a desk, they are more likely to be productive and want to focus on the task at hand.

My list includes clipboards to allow students to have a hard surface to write on and 3 different choices in seating, offering 8 possible spots for students to choose from. These would greatly benefit my classroom!
