Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

While this is my first year teaching, this is not my first year working with high school-age students. I know that the items I have asked for in this project will fulfill three main goals.

One, is to create an environment where my students want to come and learn.

This includes things like mousepads, fidgets (to help maintain attention), and decorative items. Most of those decorative items come from requests that they specifically asked for, such as lights, posters, plants, ceiling filters, and a big class dog as a classroom pet.

Two, I have included items that are great for rewards for good behavior and completion of assignments. All of the snacks are great rewards, and the board and card games are big motivators to get assignments done in a timely manner.

Three, the remaining items are things I believe I need as a first-time teacher. Markers and the board eraser are things I have had to borrow since I did not have them when I started two weeks ago. A cabinet for the games and supplies, a tub for the snacks, a Label Maker to designate stations and label equipment, velcro to put up decorations, and cleaning wipes to keep things hygienic and safe. My hope is that all of these things can allow us to have a great classroom environment and set us up for success.
