Joyful is our classroom's word this year. My goal is to make learning so engaging that each student runs into our classroom.
My first graders are energetic and excited to learn new things.
They love using math centers, flexible seating, learning through whole class games (like Four Square) and reading books with familiar and exciting characters.
Each of my students come from diverse backgrounds ethnically, racially, and economically, but they all have at least one thing in common - they want to feel safe and encouraged when they come to school. It is with that common goal that we enter our classroom each day.
My Project
As a first year teacher I have done my best to provide a warm, safe environment for my students that both engages their minds and challenges them. Achieving these goals does not require a lot of things, but some things make it a lot easier! Unfortunately, as the year continues on, I have noticed that we have a few needs, particularly our need for new books and important school tools and supplies.
If you choose to donate to this project, you will be providing my students with new mentor texts (books to be read aloud for reading and writing lessons) and important tools and supplies to help our class run smoothly.
The texts I have chosen for this project are highly engaging and pair well with many of our upcoming reading and writing lessons! I have also chosen a fine motor activity to be included because many of my students have a hard time with legible handwriting and completing tasks like tying shoes. Finally, small supplies like mini dry erase board erasers are in this project. These erasers will help us care more for the environment by not wasting tissues (especially in flu season) to erase our well loved dry erase boards! I carefully selected each item in this project with my students in mind. Thank you for considering!
