First Year Teacher Needs Leveled Books for Kindergarten!
My students need 20 sets of leveled books, Level A through E with Extra sets and two book bins for independent reading during our Daily 5 literacy program.
Do you remember the first time you learned to read a book? My students have already started the school year and are eager to start learning how to read! As a first year teacher, I am trying to build up our library so my students have numerous books to choose from during our Daily 5 program.
I teach Kindergarten in a North Carolina public school and I have 22 special students in my class with very different reading levels and interests.
They are eager learners and get excited about learning new words. My wish for my students is that they will become life long readers!
My Project
My students need leveled book libraries, Level A through E with Extra sets and two book bins for independent reading during our Daily 5 literacy program. My classroom has a limited supply of books. I want students to have the opportunity to choose between a variety of fiction and non fiction books that meet their interests and reading level. During our Daily 5 program, I want students to be able to have many books to choose from to place in their book boxes. Students will not only be able to improve their fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills, but will develop a love for reading. Kindergarten is a vital year and reading a range of books will help enrich a child's life.
Both struggling and excelling readers will benefit from having leveled books.
During our independent reading time, I want my students to curl up in our "reading cove" and enjoy a good book. Your contribution will not only help my students this year, but will help my future students as well!
