My Students

I will be teaching 3rd grade in a low-income, diverse, and urban environment. I've had prior experience student teaching in a similar socio-economic environment like this one, and I've learned to love the reward experience of working with students from diverse and urban areas. It is extremely rewarding and these students deserve much more than they have.

I'm so excited to meet my students, learn their stories, make connections and adapt my classroom to make their second home where they feel safe, comfortable and loved.

My Project

As a first-year teacher and recent college graduate, I'm starting my cIassroom from scratch. I want to provide my students with a positive learning environment with inspirational posters and educational tools that help provide organization support and creativity. I've chosen these specific items in this project from recommendations of veteran teachers in my building that have been proven to be successful. I'll be using my rug for meetings with the class, presentations and collaborative space. I've purposely chosen a science-themed carpet to emphasize our growth as a school into our newly developed science curriculum. I want students to see it everyday and learn to adapt science into their everyday learning. Our classroom library rug will be used as a comfortable and safe space for students to take breaks, collaborate and read independently.

These materials will help me build and facilitate the positive, functional and stimulating environment for my students that they deserve.
