Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
As a first year teacher, I have not had the chance to meet my students for the 2018-2019 school year yet. I do know that my students will come from a low-income, high English language learner, high poverty district, and they are faced with challenges everyday. When they come to my classroom, I want the chance to help them develop a community of learners who are academically proficient, demonstrate strong character and exhibit self-confidence. I can’t wait to meet them in August.
My Project
Since I am a first year teacher I have a big need to supply my classroom! Supplying a classroom for a new school year is a lot like preparing for a long winter on the old frontier. You better lay in your supplies before the snow falls and the cupboards are bare. On top of that, if you’re just starting out, money is scarce and buying TONS of resources for your classroom seems daunting! Resources, room décor, math manipulatives, office supplies… the list goes on and on and it can all add up quick! I have created this DonorsChoose.org project in hopes that I can find donors to help me supply my classroom.
