Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a first year elementary school teacher in San Diego, California. Having my own classroom is a dream come true! San Diego is very diverse and my classroom mirrors this diversity.
I have students from all walks of life and they are all amazing children who deserve the best that that I can give them.
As you can imagine, as a teacher in my first year I am in need of many materials! Having a first year teacher, who lacks supplies, should not be a detriment to my incredible students.
My Project
In the short time that I have had my classroom, I am quickly realizing how many materials it takes for children to be happily engaged in learning. I am requesting some comfy spots for my children to curl up and read. They would absolutely benefit from these beanbag chairs and reclining picnic chairs.
Being able to get out of their hard plastic chairs and curl up with a good book would increase their reading stamina and allow them to fall into their books.
In addition, having their books, pencils, and journals at hand with these individual At-Your-Seat Sacks would decrease our time looking for materials. The less time we waste, the more time we have to learn! And, well scissors? Every child should have a good pair to create, imagine, and learn. I know you will agree!
