I am blessed with the opportunity to teach 130 hard-working, eager to learn, respectful students in my 6th grade math classes. Of these students, 99% are Hmong and 80% of the students are below the poverty rate. Most students come from families where English is a second language and many of the parents speak only Hmong. The students face many obstacles but are dedicated scholars.
The culture of my students is one of kindness, modesty, and strong community.
The children embrace their native culture while assimilating to American culture. They are often the cultural bridge for their parents. They are strong in spirit and beautiful in heart. I love being a part of their academic, social, and cultural experiences.
My Project
The items listed will help keep my scholar's assignments organized and returned in a timely manner. When homework is returned promptly, the comments are relevant and scholars have time to correct their work if needed.
In addition, these tools will enhance our work space for small group learning.
With the steel, desktop organizer, students will have small white boards, dry erase markers, pencils, Post-its, and erasers organized for easy access when needed.
For each math class (5 total) the scholars and I have alphabetized their folders and then put them in numerical order. This is some great organizational problem solving by my scholars!
