Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
After teaching Kindergarten for the past five years, I am moving to First Grade! I am over the moon at the thought of having many of the same students I've taught in TK and Kindergarten in my classroom once again, and I cannot wait to begin this First Grade journey with them!
My students love to learn and are especially excited about their literacy journey.
Although my students come from diverse backgrounds, they share the same enthusiasm for reading, and it is my aim to foster this attitude and instill a lifelong love of reading among my beautiful students.
My Project
I want to create an exciting space that functions as a resource and location for guided and independent reading, while meeting the personal interests of my students.
As I embark on this adventure of teaching a new grade level, I am asking for help with building a classroom library that my students can't wait to get to!
I aim to provide my students with a variety of book genres that will spark excitement and empowerment as they develop as readers. In the words of beloved children's author, Kate DiCamillo, "Reading should not be presented to children as a chore or a duty. It should be offered to them as a precious gift."
