Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My classroom is made up of twenty-two students who live in a high-poverty area of New Mexico. Our school is a Title One school and our student population receives one hundred percent free/reduced breakfast and lunch. A majority of the students in my classroom are English Language Learners.
My students are energetic and LOVE to learn new things!
My students are excited to work with new tools and resources to help them explore learning through hands-on experiences. I'm excited to have the opportunity to help them grow to their fullest and show them how much fun learning can be!
My Project
Learning how to read is one of the greatest things that can happen during a students kindergarten year. The books I have selected will be used year after year to help kindergarten students learn how to read. With these books students will be able to continue their growth as readers.
As first time readers, my students need a variety of books in their hands so that their love for reading can continue to grow.
Having these leveled books as a resource in our classroom, will provide my students with the opportunity of learning how to read at their own pace.
