My students are tomorrow's Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Leaders. They dream big and work hard, the majority of them move on to study STEM in college and become engineers. My students enroll in challenging STEM courses and take the knowledge they learn in these courses and apply it in my Pre-Engineering Courses, as well as in our FIRST Robotics Club. My school is a high achieving large suburban school, with vibrant diversity and extremely dedicated teachers throughout the large building.
Within my high school STEM program, I want to add a First Tech Challenge (FTC) team in addition to our First Robotics Competition (FRC) team. In order to add a team, my students need a platform or chassis to work with, for this project, I am requesting the Tile Runner robotic chassis by AndyMark.
This chassis will enable my younger students to be more engaged from day one, not waiting years for their turns with FRC.
Students will build the Tile Runner chassis, and be able to program it using a new format, and then design and integrate secondary mechanisms to be used on the chassis.
Additionally, this will give my older students an opportunity to become the mentors, and work with young students to teach and inspire their younger peers to grow into the FRC program, and eventually pursing careers within STEM. The chassis will be a catalyst for growth within my FIRST robotics program.
