My Students
A few years ago we changed from a school team to a district program, and we have steadily grown every year. Our district is the third largest public school district in KY with student populations from rural, urban, and suburban communities, 18% minority, and 38% low income.
Our growing team is developing a diverse population with almost 25% female students, varied socioeconomic levels, and increased minority participation.
The team has more than tripled in size and space requirements. With this welcome growth comes an increased need for funding.
My Project
Our FIRST Robotics team teaches students how to build and operate robotics equipment and components enabling variable speed control. Each year we build numerous robots, including a competition robot, practice robot, and a demonstration robot which we take to community events.
Students have researched various motor controllers and identified the Talon SRX Speed Controller to be most successful with FIRST robotics teams.
We have progressed through various motor controllers to the team's current preferred controller, the Talon. We are excited to build our newest robots utilizing this equipment and to then take our robots to corporate and community demonstrations following the competition season.
