Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My robotics students meet five times a week to learn about problem-solving and designing robots. Due to the pandemic, we were unable to compete last year, but we are looking forward to competing this year. We learn the impact of computing on society and the environment. One of the great aspects of teaching computer science is that students are engaged in a topic that is relevant and interesting. Computer science changes daily. There are always new innovations and computing ideas. My students have a fantastic time learning about programming, and the programs that students create are very personal and often an extension of their personality. Students know that they have to work in teams and participate in discussions. It's very much student-centered in that they are doing the teaching and learning. They are very responsible citizens. We plan to continue with FRC 6711 Millennial Falcons for the upcoming season.
My Project
Build season is upon us. The build season will allow students to build a robot from scratch. They will need to build a robot based on the specifications set forth by FIRST. Our FRC team is requesting a toolbox with organized foam inserts to keep their build space neat and orderly. Students are also requesting supplies from AndyMark. They would like a pneumatics kit, sports bundle, chain bundle, and power supply bundle. The electronic team will use these bundles to supply the necessary equipment to make the robot functional and moving. The pneumatics kit will allow students to use pressured air to allow the robot to move objects at a fast speed. The sports bundle will give the team gearboxes and motors to control the robot. The chain bundle will allow the robot to move laterally. The power supply bundle will allow the robot to control power to different parts of the robot. Being part of FRC has been a very engaging and challenging experience for my students. They are eager and excited to compete in the upcoming season.
