Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Hello! Thank you for visiting my class. We are a small school with a close knit community. We pulled through last school year together and my students are ready to remain in the classroom. This year, I created the PIHS Robotics Team and joined the FIRST Robotics Competition as Team 8750. My kids are excited to have started the design process for their first ever robot created by them. It is truly amazing to hear students so happy in the classroom.
I teach at a small, rural, Title I school in South Texas with about 140 students throughout the day.
It is quite an honor to see their growth over the course of the year and I strive to be a positive encouragement for them. An environment conducive to learning is as important as the way content is taught so the methods of teaching and learning are vital. I want to provide avenues of learning beyond the norm.
Statistics for our school: 65.3% At-risk students. 83% Economically disadvantaged. 17.7% Limited English proficiency. 90% Minority
My Project
We're ready! FIRST Robotics Competition Team 8750, Tarpontron1cs, is ready to go. I created a robotics team this year in the hopes of securing funding to compete in the FIRST Robotics Competition. Our school has never had a robotics team before and several students were excited to join. We secured the funding for the Rookie Kit but are in need of additional components to complete our robot.
This projects seeks to acquire many of the needed components for the design, test, and construction to make TarponousPrime a reality.
Any contribution is greatly appreciated. These students are having a blast and learning so much just in the design process. Using their hands to actually drill, wire, connect, solder and program our robot will give them the experience needed to succeed in their desired STEM majors at the college level.
