My classroom community is ever changing and I am committed to help my students learn about the world through literacy and educational games. My class consist of 7- and 8- year old girls and boys with a thirst for knowledge.
The Little Life Learners in my class come from diverse cultural and financial backgrounds.
These Little Life Learners need hands-on materials to help them learn real world concepts.
The students have a need to learn more about the financial world they live in. Research shows learning games help students develop fluency in content areas. By using our classroom library and learning games, the students will become independent, self-directed learners.
My Project
The Little Life Learners in my class come from diverse cultural and financial backgrounds. These Little Life Learners need hands-on materials to help them learn real world concepts.
This project will help Little Life Learners from various backgrounds build a foundation for their future financial success.
The literacy learning game will give the Little Life Learners the opportunity to build and practice through hands-on activities, developing a better understanding of real world concepts, such as, being able to identify coins and paper currency and compute the combination of coins and dollar bills. The literacy centers will also help Little Life Learners be able to construct a viable agreement as to why a group of coins or bills does/does not represent a given total. The economic books and learning games will give additional understanding of how the economy works.
The literacy centers will enhance the Little Life Learners' understanding of needs and wants, supply and demand, savings, spending, and the production of the supply chain. These skills will help the Little Life Learners build a foundation and understanding for their future financial success.
