Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My name is Mark and I am currently a first grade teacher at Point Fermin Elementary School in San Pedro, California. We are a small diverse school of approximately 330 students. Being a small school we are usually last in line to receive extra funds. My first graders would love to have picture dictionaries. It would be great for them to be able to get an early start on how to use dictionaries. They will learn about the alphabet and how words that start with the letter A are at the beginning of the dictionary and Z is at the back. Alphabetical order is a first grade concept. The students will also be able match words with pictures. Some students have never seen an ox or an ostrich. It would be wonderful for them to be able to look up a word and actually see a picture of what they are looking for. We are grateful for this opportunity to even ask for a donation. Thank you for considering us.
