Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Unfortunately, most of my students don't have a computer at home. They only use one at school during Computer Day. They get very excited when it's Computer class day. They get to visit the computer lab once a week for 45 minutes.
My bilingual first grade students are very eager learners.
Even though they have limited resources at home, that doesn't stop them from wanting to learn as much as possible. They are very proud of the fact that they are bilingual students and are always trying to learn new things.
My Project
My first grade students work a lot in work stations. When they visit them, they are able to practice and reinforce skills learned in class. Students are always in groups of four or five when they are at a work station. The stations have space and assignments that can be completed by a maximum of five students at a time. Because I only have one working computer, I am unable to put the computer as part of a work station because only one student can work on it at a time. I would really like to implement a technology work station where they will be able to log in into the great reading and math programs our district has to offer and many other activities that are available in our school computer lab.
If we do receive the four Samsung Galaxy Tablets, I will be able to implement the technology work station.
They will become part of the classroom work station rotation. Since they go to workstations twice daily, a total of eight to ten students will be able to work with the technology they need and love every single day.
