Our school is located in an urban setting and is very diverse. From ethnic to family to economic diversity, we celebrate everyone! Our school is an inclusive school which means every class has students with special needs. We teach a peaceful approach to learning together. I teach lovely little learners.
The first graders I teach are so full of love.
Working at our school for close to two decades has been a gift. Our school community is full of love and support.
My first graders are such active learners. They love to create any chance they get. Whether it's games on the recess yard or using art to create, they are always looking for ways to express their creativity.
It's time for first graders to get busy designing and building using the STEM standards.
We are asking for a balls and ramps kit and storage box so the children can design a ramp and then build it during science centers. Also, we need a set of 3 STEM kits to explore building houses, bridges and vehicles. These box kits will be used during science centers when we study engineering. We also asked for 2 brick maze building kits where the children will explore building mazes with legos and they have to design it so the marble doesn't escape. These materials will be explored in combination of reading books from the STEM book collection. As a teacher I let literature guide our science exlploration.
