First Graders Need Computer for Differentiated Instruction
My students need an additional computer to use for reading and math interventions. My students need a keyboard for the computer.
My forty first graders are working on various instructional levels. My goal for these students is for them to grow and learn to their fullest potential.
My school is a K-2 Primary school with approximately 700 students.
We are a Title I school where approximately 85% of our student population receives free or reduced lunch and breakfast. I am a first grade teacher with 40 students throughout the day.
This computer will be used for Reading and Math interventions for my first grade class. There is a specific time designated each morning for intervention. This computer will also be used throughout the day by students who need additional resources to develop or master a skill. Students will become stronger readers and more fluent in math as well.
By donating to this project, more students will be able to use programs bought by our school system to improve literacy and math skills.
Right now, I have 3 computers in my class. I have 40 students that come through my class in a day. One computer is also used to run the Promethean board. By adding an additional computer, more students will have access to technology and programs designed to help struggling readers as well as boost those already reading on or above grade level.
