Celebrate Black Teachers and Students
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
I teach first grade at a Charter School in a very low income district in New York. My students work very hard and deserve every advantage we can give them.
Our classroom is low on basic supplies like pencils, scissors, tape, borders, and stickers. These things are integral parts of life in first grade!
We need pencils for every part of our day. We need scissors and tape to complete very basic projects in literacy and social studies. We need stickers to use as very simple but effective motivators. We need borders to create showcases for our students' incredible work. We need name tags to keep our students safe when we take a field trip.
Your help will ensure that these first graders are able to keep doing the amazing work that they are so proud of. These supplies will keep our classroom going and keep our students enthusiastic about learning!
