My Students

Six and seven year-olds are just about the most enthusiastic people on the planet. If you were to walk into my classroom and ask them what they are learning you might hear "I'm learning to be a better reader." "I'm getting smarter in math."... but you will also hear "I'm learning to be kind." "I'm learning to persevere." We are a classroom family and more than anything I want for my students to feel important, empowered and part of something special - to own their dreams and their education. I hope you will consider supporting these amazing kids with this request and other projects that make our classroom a great place to be.

My Project

Our first graders would like to study owls during their life sciences unit this fall. The owl pellets and books will help students deepen their knowledge about owls and their habitats, behaviors and life cycles. It will help them to understand food chains in a very hands-on and memorable way.

The best way to learn scientific concepts is to do work like real scientists.

After studying our books and conducting our pellet dissections, students will identify, record and analyze their data in a graph. Our culminating project will tie in writing, math, art and science. We hope you will consider supporting this exciting cross-curricular project.
