My students are an amazing group of 6- and 7-year-olds who love to learn! My students thrive off of the amount of choices in our classroom, and they love hands-on, collaborative projects. The students also love the technology that is currently in our classroom, therefore I know they will be ecstatic to see and be able to use more. My students are creative, intelligent, and they crave a variety of learning experiences. More importantly, they long to express themselves in different ways. Adding more technology into the classroom will allow for them to have different mediums to express themselves and to demonstrate their learning.
My Project
These Chromebooks will allow for at least a 2-1 student/device ratio which will enhance their digital literacy and collaboration opportunities. My students will collaborate on Google docs, Google slides and maybe even Google sheets to create projects. They will be in awe the second they see their classmates working on the same project as them on their chrome book, then seeing the changes show up on their own screen and their classmate edits. This will truly be magic for them. The Chromebooks also have built in web cams, which will allow them to communicate with students from all over the world as we discuss different cultures and see how children are similar and different from them. Students will use these Chromebooks at centers and throughout different parts of the day depending on the activity. Using these resources will allow students to increase their critical thinking and problem-solving skills which will help them thrive in today's world.
My classroom design will become even more suitable for the 21st century learner.
The donations will be used to allow students to collaborate on projects while also enhancing their digital literacy. This will be a strong foundation for their digital literacy and help them be successful in the future. Through this project, we would be giving students a head start towards becoming true 21st century learners. First-graders are very tech-savvy and we need to give them opportunities now!
