My Students

I love teaching first grade. A day in my classroom includes my first grade students working in small groups as well as independently to accomplish reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.

There are 22 fabulous first graders in my class.

They are very active as they discuss ideas, question concepts, and learn new skills. Our rural school serves over 500 students in Pre-K through 2nd grade. The community is very supportive. Our Parent/Teacher Club works hard to provide students and teachers with needed materials and help within the school.

My Project

Providing stability balls for students will help increase each students ability to focus. Research indicates replacing chairs with these balls help students use both sides of their brains as they balance. When the brain is stimulated, it is more focused on learning. The balls are also good for hyperactive students because a little bit of movement on the ball helps release energy in order to concentrate on a task.
