My Students

My first grade students live in a big city and are a diverse group of learners. They are six and seven years old and many speak languages other than English at home.

They come to school excited and eager to learn!

They look forward to having a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment to explore, take risks, and be successful learners.

My students are learning to build positive relationships with each other as well as literacy, math, science, and social studies skills.

My Project

Our classroom needs bean bag chairs and a storage/seating bench. These materials will allow us to have an inviting, organized, and comfortable library space to promote a love of books and reading.

These materials will help us transform this very important classroom space.

It will become a space that encourages children to read. They will also make a difference in how the students in my classroom interact with and learn about books.

Once we have these materials, students will have organized books to choose from and a cozy space in which to enjoy them either on their own or with a friend.
