This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My first grade class has 22 amazing students, many of whom come from single parent homes and receive free lunch. These students struggle daily to achieve academically. I serve EIP students who lack the foundation to perform on grade level. Most of the students are reading on a kindergarten reading level. Many of these students live in single family households and receive free lunch based on their socioeconomic status. These things may prevent them from getting ahead in life and be succesful.
My Project
Our first grade class is in need of basic school supplies! We are located in a title one school, where many parents are unable to afford school supplies. Our classroom has run out of many supplies, especially because it is now the middle of the academic school year.
Many students come from homes where they do not have access to paper or pencils.
We need a new stapler and sharpie markers to help our class run effieciently. The pencil pouches, ink pens and Bar erasers help keep us organized. Paper is just an everyday need to function.
As a teacher, I want to be able to provide the best all around education for students. The best way to do this is being able to provide students with those supplies they don’t have access too. Myself and students will really appreciate any donation towards these supplies for our classroom.
