First Grade Organized Learning
My students need hands-on math materials and classroom books to build an essential foundation in academic subjects! A rug and storage bins will organize our environment.
I'm a first grade teacher at a low income school. Many of my students need extra support to be on grade level. Providing hands-on learning and a variety of class books greatly supports learning. Creating an organized classroom for each child to have their own space also enhances student learning.
My students are wonderfully unique and diverse in ethnicity, culture, and abilities.
Title I students have parents that care and want the best for their children, but sometimes are overwhelmed with work and trying to make ends meet. This can make it hard for some single or struggling parents to spend time helping with homework for their child's academic success. It is difficult for low income families to provide as much exposure to hands-on math learning materials and age-appropriate books because of their high cost. These children are eager to learn in a comfortable environment.
I am requesting a classroom rug for each child to have their own comfortable space for direct instruction and reading time. I have requested wipe off plastic covers for my students to practice their writing, spelling, and math skills in a fun and unique way. I have requested a variety of on-grade level books on social skills, math, science, and literacy to increase their learning in those areas. The on-grade level books will be used for whole class teaching as well as in our class library for students to read.
I have included storage bins with labels to store these fabulous books! I have also added math materials to be used for whole class instruction and for student hands-on learning. All of these materials add to an exciting, organized, fun learning environment for children to learn successfully in all academic areas.
The first graders in my class this year, and in years to come, will benefit from having such high-quality, standards based, fun, and engaging materials to learn basic core subjects.
These materials will not only aide with our classroom learning environment but also with my students learning in math, social skills, character education, science and literacy. Thank you!
