This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My students are hungry for knowledge and learning experiences, and they are eager to learn. They can succeed and do great things. They just need the opportunity and resources to achieve this. My students need a writing center where they can practice writing and learn penmanship.
I am a first grade teacher in a low income area.
My students are bright, smart, energetic students with a zest for knowledge. By being in a low income area there are many supplies and opportunities that are not readily available to my students that many others take for granted. My students need a writing center in the classroom. They need an area where they can practice writing their names, stories, poems, and more. We need supplies for that. For a writing center we need primary writing paper, dry erase boards, dry erase makers, student writing folders and student dictionaries to help get us started.
My Project
My students will use these materials to practice writing their names, headings, sentences, stories, and poems. These materials will help my students to become better writers. By the end of the school year, I want my students to be able to write letters to pen pals, short stories, book reports and more.
My project will make a difference because it will give my students a chance to interact with and use these materials daily.
It will give my students a chance to practice writing skills in a fun and engaging way.
