Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I have two classes of amazing first graders. My students are in a Dual Immersion Program where they spend half the day in a Spanish classroom and the other half in my English classroom.
My students come to school and take on the challenges to learn that make them thrive.
I want my students to make the most out of their time in my classroom and provide them with literacy resources and books that will enrich their learning experience in first grade.
My Project
My students will have access to a wider variety of books during our Guided Reading Block and Daily Five. They will read at their own level from our classroom library. I hand picked these picked these books to target their learning levels. In first grade, a child's reading material should feature a high proportion of new words that use the letter-sound relationship that they have learned.
These books will enrich the student's learning experiences and empower them to become better readers.
Reading is vital to first grade academic success. I am looking forward to providing my students with a classroom library that they will enjoy and will challenge them to become better readers.
