My class of first graders is fun and full of energy. They make each day so exciting. They come from many different walks of life, but every day in the classroom, become a family. My students range in levels and capabilities, but all are hard workers. I am constantly inspired watching them learn, and grow.
My students are encouraged to take responsibility of their own learning.
They really thrive on feeling in charge of their success. They learn not only from me, but by interacting with peers, problem-solving, and sharing. They love learning, and are always eager to try new things. Teaching is an adventure, and I am glad to have such an awesome crew!!

My Project
I strive to give my students freedom by letting them CHOOSE how and where they learn during independent work time. Currently, I have students choosing to sit at tables, lay on the floor, lean up against the wall with a clipboard, or even stand (while moving). My students need more options, to allow for a more comfortable learning environment, that allows for movement.
Flexible seating will allow my students to own their learning and make the choices that work best for them and their learning style!
The items that I have selected will give my students the options they need. The wobble chairs, stability balls, and wobble cushions will allow for the movement my students are looking for. While the yoga mats, and lap desks will help those who like to sit or lay on the ground while they work.
These options will help my students to better focus and be successful in their learning. :)
