My Students
I teach an amazing group of 1st grade students. We are a culturally diverse school with most of students who are English language learners. Despite their challenges, they are very inquisitive and eager to learn.
My school is a Title I school which means most students qualify for free breakfast and lunch.
We strive to meet all of their needs as they strive for academic excellence. Their tenacity to learn encourages me to create a fun learning environment so they are actively engaged in learning every day.
My Project
My project will give all 1st grade students at my school a Scholastic Magazine subscription to help them Soar to Success in Reading.
This magazine will help strengthen our students' reading skills and give them fun and engaging text to read with colorful photographs.
We are always looking for interesting things for our students to read and these magazines always get the kids excited for reading.
Students will use their magazine in class and at home with their families. This non-fiction magazine is perfect for first grade giving them current events on a level that they could understand. It will be a treasured piece of text in our classroom.
