Help me give my students grade appropriate books to read! In first grade, we are ready to start reading chapter books. We need more books that appeal to all students, like Fly Guy and The Princess in Black!
My 23 first grade students come from all over the world! We are learning to live, work, and play together each day. This past year, we have built a safe and inclusive community. They love playing with and learning from one another. I am learning from them too!
We love learning together-almost everything we do is collaborative.
My students value each other and are always excited to learn new things about our cultures. At our school, we loop, meaning that I have already had these students for kindergarten. This will be our second year together! The relationships that we have built this past year will carry over into the next, allowing for even more in depth learning to happen.
My Project
This is the second year of my loop with my students. They have grown so much, and are quickly becoming better and better readers! We practice independent reading every day, and need books that can withstand lots of love.
Our classroom library needs updating with appropriate, diverse books to meet the needs of my students!
We are practicing and practicing to become the best readers, we can be. By having a library with diverse, appropriate books, students can become better readers and build a love of reading. These books will get used every day for the rest of the year- and by students for many years to come!
