This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

First grade is full of many firsts. One of our favorite lessons is all about contractions. But a concept that is so easy for us sometimes can be elusive for my firsties as they are also navigating to learn to read.

With this project, I want to bring contractions to life transforming our classroom into our own surgical contraction room.

All paper will be used to print all items for this transformation, decor will be sprinkled around the room to ensure the classroom comes to life. Labels and ID will be used to create all the items for students to use in the contraction stations. With this transformation, students will practice their contractions and grammar to make sure they meet the first grade benchmark. This is my favorite classroom transformation in first grade and I hope to bring it to life.
