Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I currently teach first grade in at a Title I school in an urban setting. Most of my students are English Language Learners. I also have the Inclusion Class for students with Special Needs. One student is Deaf & Hard of Hearing.

Very few of my students have a computer or an iPad in their home.

Many of my students' parents are not working and some of my students are homeless.

My students are sponges. They come to life with the use of technological tools. They easily adopt new technologies quickly. However, my school has very old computers. Many times when my students are taking their mandated computerized assessments or working on websites, they shut down.

My Project

My students will use these Chromebooks as another tool for learning. They will work on word processing, create and organize files, practice keyboarding skills, and do digital storytelling.

My first graders will be able to create graphic organizers using mind mapping programs, create video presentations, and publish writing online.

There are hundreds of websites and technological tools that Chromebooks offers them opportunities to explore.

Your funding of this project will ensure that the Chromebooks will give my students the ideal environment to scaffold their learning for success later in life. I would also be able to use these Chromebooks with future students. Thank you for your support.
