My students need the HD Fire Tablets to explore the world of digital storytelling. They love technology and love to write incredible imaginative stories!
My students come from very diverse backgrounds. Close to 70% of my students live below the Federal Poverty Level. When my 1st-grade students walk into my classroom I strive to provide for them an inviting, caring, and exciting learning experience. With so many personalities and such diverse home lives, it can be difficult to make the transition to a learning environment. Yet once they are comfortable, they can work at something that seemed so difficult to them at first and then it happens...they get it! Now they are motivated to work hard and learn more. There is nothing more rewarding than the look of accomplishment on a 1st-grade child's face.
My Project
With the Fire Tablets, they will be able to use kid-friendly story writing apps to create short stories and then share those stories with family and friends.
While writing on the tablets the children can let their imaginations run wild!
They will be able to add animals, food, people, vehicles, shapes, and objects along with the text. Of course they will also be able to add their own drawings and handwriting as well.
The Fire Tablets will also allow the children to share the stories within the digital classroom library...imagine the laughter and smiles as they read each other’s digital stories!
