This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Learning to read is the most exciting time in a child's life. Learning to read chapter books only adds to this excitement! I want to have the materials my students need to make this exciting time in their lives even more enjoyable!
I work at a Title One school in Alabama.
My students come from all walks of life. We have a mixture of several ethnicities. Many of my students are ELL (English Language Learners) so it is crucial that they have access to quality instruction and adequate materials.
My Project
I will use these books to create a quality reading center in my classroom. I will use books to read to my students and when they are ready for independence, they will be fully available to the students. They can be read during silent reading, free choice time, or center time. They will also be checked out nightly to children and carried using the new book bag carriers.
In addition to serving as teacher read alouds, these books will be fully available to the children.
They will have access to these books in class at all times. Children will also be able to check these books out and take them home in the carrying bags. These books will ensure that my students will have access to quality literature at all times!
