My Students

Six and seven year-olds are just about the most enthusiastic people on the planet. If you were to walk into my classroom and ask them what they are learning you might hear "I'm learning to be a better reader." "I'm getting smarter in math."... but you will also hear "I'm learning to be kind." "I'm learning to persevere."

We are a classroom family and more than anything I want for my students to feel important, empowered and part of something special - to own their dreams and their education.

I hope you will consider supporting these amazing kids with this request and other projects that make our classroom a great place to be.

My Project

First graders LOVE animals and no one does animals better than National Geographic! We are requesting a full library (over 55 books!) of National Geographic readers on everything from snakes to otters to bears to sharks.

These nonfiction books are just right for beginning readers, they are challenging and engaging and filled with the knowledge young learners crave.

We will use these books across multiple subject areas (reading, writing, art, science) throughout the school year. Please consider supporting this project and helping my avid young scientists to learn more about the animals in their world.
