I am a first grade teacher in a public school in New York City. Our school is located in a high-needs community.

My first grade students rarely have a chance to use computers outside of our school community. The majority of my students do not own computers at home. In school, I have two computers in the classroom. One will barely turn on, and the other has one educational game on it that freezes up as it loads.

I would love to have an efficient, new computer for my students to use. With an operating computer they would be able to use many of the free educational games websites available. There are many great literacy and math websites for kids that boast their reading and math skills. These would be the primary websites we would use, but we would be able to visit science and social studies websites as well. They would also be able to explore how the Internet works.

This is your chance to introduce technology and computers to my students. In this world, the younger students are instructed in computer education and begin building their computer skills, the better. Please help make this possible for my class!
