I LOVE teaching first grade! I think this grade is amazing because the amount of growth that happens over the course of a year is incredible! Many of my students come to first grade reading only a little, and by the end of first grade, they have found books that they love, which initiates a love of reading!
My class is filled with adorable first graders who come to school every day ready to learn.
Many of my students face challenges related to their home lives. Many students speak English as their second language. Some might think that these challenges would be a setback for many students, but these students come to school excited to learn, are always wanting to know more, and love to ask many questions! They truly have a love for learning.
My Project
Art supplies for our classroom will give my twenty six first graders the opportunity to ignite their creative side. They will use oil pastels and watercolors to explore different mediums. We will extend our book read alouds into art projects.
My students are engaged and excited when it is art day!
Our school is lacking an art teacher. The more art I can bring into the classroom, the more successful my students feel!
Having a paper cutter in my classroom will help me prepare our art projects. Once we finish our masterpieces, the laminating machine will preserve their work!
I love watching my students realize their artistic potential. Often my quietest students come alive while working on art projects! They are proud to show off their masterpieces.
