This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
There are many reasons why my students are special, but the most important reason is that they are eager to beat the odds of their communities.
My current students are big dreamers.
Regardless of the things that are happening around them, they are excited to continue their education. Our school is nestled in the northern part of our city. My students are considered at high risk to join gangs, use drugs, and get involved with violence, but they are working hard to avoid being a part of negative statistics.
We are a Title I school where one hundred percent of the students receive free lunch. Every day, we work together to create opportunities that will help build strong and productive futures for every student.
My Project
The class of 2021 will be cheated out of many celebratory events including all their senior activities and regular graduation due to the Corona virus. One of those senior activities is Decision Day. It is a celebration of our high school seniors who have officially made the decision to enroll in a college, university or join the military after graduation. This event usually takes place sometime in May, but this year our seniors will have a drive thru event, which will include passing out their diplomas and graduation gowns. I need your help to make this day a little brighter.
Each student committed to a college, university or military will be gifted at least one item from this project.
This project includes complete bedding sets, shower caddies, mattress protectors, laundry necessities, and bathroom toiletries. I hope that these items will brighten our student’s day and lesson their families financial burden. Thank you for reading and considering this project.
