My students need many options for flexible seating. Many of my students suffer from ADHD and reserve the right for preferential seating in order to work to their fullest potential.
Every day when my students walk into the classroom they know they have come into a safe and welcoming space. I teach in a city school district in New York where 100 percent of my students receive free breakfast and lunch. Each of my students have unique home lives and come to school to escape.
Even though my students come from unique backgrounds and various academic levels they are eager to learn and grow.
My students range from a kindergarten academic level to a fourth grade academic level. It is a challenging range of levels however I am striving to help close the gap before sending them off to seventh and eighth grade.
My Project
These flexible seating options will prove to be valuable to my students learning. Many of my students suffer from ADHD and have preferential seating as an accommodation when working and testing. The adjustable table will allow students to sit on the floor or stand up to complete their work. Students will also have the option to sit on stools as they work at the adjustable table.
The oversized bean bag chairs will be a great addition to our classroom library and motive students to read.
Currently I have yoga balls as a flexible seating option, however, the balls tend to move which is a distraction. Having the yoga ball holders will keep them in place and provide a more effective use for this seating option. Lastly, wobble chairs are a great addition to help build the students' core muscles and provide another alternative seating option.
