My students need bandages and ice packs to help with injuries and sweatpants to recover from any clothing mishaps. Sometimes things happen and having emergency supplies helps our students feel safe and cared for.

Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
My students are thinkers and doers. They are inquisitive young individuals that are passionate about the arts. My students have valuable experiences and opinions to share with the world through their art.
We are an urban public school within the Denver Public Schools district and reflect the wonderful cultural diversity found in Denver.
Demographically 75% of our students qualify for Free and Reduced Lunch, 80% identify as students of color and many speak a variety of languages besides English.
My Project
The number one guideline for a successful dance class is safety- both physically and emotionally.
Having our own first aid chest allows us the ensure the fastest response time in the event of injury.
Our emergency chest is running extremely low. Students use these supplies not only for injuries but also as a means of prevention or for any mishap that might otherwise keep them from dancing.
It's heartbreaking to see a student miss class because we don't have the correct supplies or materials they need to take care of themselves. These supplies will replenish our emergency chest and provide students with a sense of safety that allows them to fully engage in their learning.
