Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

I teach 5th and 6th grade Special Education students with a variety of needs. All of my students need differentiated supports to help them succeed and as their teacher it is my goal to ensure they get just that.

My students are curious, zesty, and hungry for knowledge.

Books and audiobooks are important to ensure that my students' various needs are met. Many of my students don't have access to books at home or at their level and rely on my library to check out high-interest books. Each day my students ask for the newest graphic novels by their favorite authors. There is a buzz and excitement around reading.

My Project

The materials and supplies I am requesting are already part of my classroom vision. I know exactly how I will use the materials and I know my students will love them! My students love to read and I simply don't have enough resources to keep up with their interest. Additionally, because my students have various needs, they need books at their level and audio books to help support their comprehension.

Struggling readers are much more likely to invest in books they like and understand.

New books and Amazon Fire tablets will open up a new world of reading for my students - a world that they deserve. Graphic novels and audiobooks are a gateway to making reluctant readers into avid readers. With these supplies my students reading skills will blossom!
