This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Working in a high poverty elementary school may seem very challenging, especially in the area of Math and Science. Our school consists of English as Second Learners, African Americans, Caucasians, Special Needs students, as well as our critical thinking gifted students. However, I truly believe that socioeconomic should not play a role in the lives of our students. “It’s not where you are, but where you are going.”
I truly believe that having sufficient technology in my classroom can enable my students to reach their full potential.
My Project
The Amazon Fire tablets and cases will allow my students the opportunity to utilize apps and computer based programs that enhances their knowledge. Some of the programs that my students utilize are Kahoot!, Google, Clever, SplashMath, and Learning Farm.
My setup in the classroom consist of 3 desktop and a laptop.
I have 22 students in my classroom which means that only 5.5 students will be able to utilize technology daily. While education has shifted to paperless, I found myself spending countless hours creating schedules for computer based assessments and projects. Those countless hours can easily be decreased with an increase in technology. with these tablets.
