My students need these Kindle tablets in order to gain access to the digital literacy and math programs, as well as conducting targeted research for their writing assignments.

Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are an extraordinarily creative, diligent, and expressive collection of young scholars. The strength of character and sense of community they demonstrate each day is inspiring. My goal is to motivate their continued academic and personal growth through stimulating activities aimed at developing meaningful dialogue and critical thinking skills. The progress they have made so far serves as fuel for our collective efforts moving forward.
The resiliency required to succeed in the harsh reality of the South Bronx presents its own challenges, which my students rise to meet each day.
Regardless of the issues of the neighborhood or struggles at home, each child remains dedicated to our school community and their individual scholastic responsibilities. They strive to make our class a very special place, where citizenship and inclusion create a sense of unity and belonging which we have all come to enjoy. It is my privilege to spend each day with them.
Throughout the year they have discovered so many new things, not just content knowledge but capacities within themselves which were previously dormant. This has allowed a confidence to grow and lead them to seek out new challenges as they continue on the path of life long learners.
My students need these tablets in order to access to the multitude of digital resources available on line. One of the the realities of teaching in an underprivileged neighborhood like the South Bronx is that supplies are extremely limited. Unfortunately the few computers our school current has are woefully out of date and often not functional.
It is imperative for my students to gain exposure to these types of technology in order to maintain pace in the digital age.
Therefore, each student will be able to access an individualized literacy and math program designed to target and improve specific skills, as well as providing an invaluable reference tool for the multitude of projects we explore throughout the year.
