My students come to school each day ready for new challenges. While our community was thrown for a whirl with the implications of Hurricane Harvey, my students continue to thrive with authentic academic experiences. While rebuilding our homes, our school community thrives in fine arts. Students are extremely creative and are focused on having a growth mindset. They create beautiful music in the band, orchestra, and chorus, as well as participate in intricate art projects, including working on our school's Art Car! When asked what they want to do when they are older, responses include, "help others," "solve pollution problems," and "learn more."
My students are already changing our world and are constantly working to make our community a better place.
Many of my students are learning English, gifted and talented, and have different learning styles. They have developed a love for reading and writing as they delve into inspiring stories. My students are creative beyond belief and are working toward creating their own stories to share with the world.
My Project
When students are able to self select their own books, they are able to grow themselves as readers. While curriculum is intertwined throughout the school year, many students are left behind when they are not able to access curriculum at their own pace. Access to a digital library is imperative for student success.
The addition of Kindle Fire Tablets to our classroom will allow students to take charge of their learning in all areas of education.
Our classroom does not have enough technology for each student to utilize. This grant will propel us closer to reaching our students' individual needs.
